What is it like to work at SD Worx?
If you are considering a job at SD Worx, you probably want to know what working here is actually like.
Not just what we do, but how people work together, how much flexibility you have and whether there is room to grow.
The honest answer is that your experience will depend on your role, team and location. Working in payroll in Antwerp is not the same as developing software in Malaga or joining a sales team in the UK.
But there are a few things you are likely to find across SD Worx.
You will work with people from different backgrounds
SD Worx operates across more than 25 countries. That makes it an international workplace, but usually in a practical, everyday way: a call with a colleague in another country, a shared project across teams or the chance to learn how another market approaches the same problem.
You do not need to arrive knowing how everything works. Asking questions, sharing what you know and listening to other points of view are all part of the job.
Some teams work mainly within one country. Others collaborate internationally every day. If that is important to you, ask about it during your interview.
Your recruiter or future manager can tell you what it looks like in the team you are joining.
There is flexibility, but it is not identical everywhere
Many colleagues work in a hybrid way, combining office days with working from home. The exact arrangement depends on the role, country and team.
Some jobs need more time with customers or colleagues in person, while others offer greater location flexibility.
We believe flexibility works best when expectations are clear. It should give people more control over their working day without making collaboration unnecessarily difficult.
Rather than assuming what hybrid working means, ask your recruiter:
- How often does the team come into the office?
- Are there fixed team days?
- Can the role be performed remotely?
- What working hours does the team normally follow?
- Are there any country-specific arrangements?
These are normal questions, and it is better to discuss them before you join.
The work can be complex
Payroll and HR technology affect people’s everyday working lives. Salaries need to be correct, systems need to work and customers need answers they can rely on.
That brings interesting problems to solve, but it also means that accuracy and responsibility matter.
You might be helping a customer understand a payroll issue, improving a digital product, supporting colleagues or working on a project across several countries. Some days will be straightforward.
Others will require patience, attention to detail and input from several people.
We do not pretend that every working day is effortless. The aim is to create an environment where people can ask for help, learn from mistakes and work through challenges together.
People tend to help each other
“One for all. All for one.” is one of our company values. In practice, it means sharing knowledge, respecting different areas of expertise and not leaving someone to solve a difficult problem alone.
Our other values focus on customers, commitment, curiosity and trust.
Of course, values only mean something when they show up in daily work. You might notice them when an experienced colleague makes time to explain a process, when a manager is open about a decision or when several teams come together to resolve a customer issue.
We also expect colleagues to take ownership. Support is available, but you will still be trusted to make decisions, speak up and follow through on your commitments.
You can shape your own development
There is no single career path at SD Worx. Some people want to become specialists. Others want to lead a team, work internationally or move into a different part of the business.
Development opportunities can include training, feedback, mentoring, career coaching and internal vacancies. Colleagues can also use My Move, our internal talent platform, to set objectives, identify development needs and connect with mentors or mentees.
That does not mean your next step happens automatically. You will need to talk about what you want, ask for feedback and take an active role in your development. Your manager and colleagues can support you, but the direction is something you help to decide.
You can be yourself at work
Our colleagues have different nationalities, experiences, perspectives and ways of working. We want people to feel respected and able to contribute without having to fit one particular mould.
You will not be expected to have the loudest voice in the room or to approach every problem in the same way as everyone else. Good ideas can come from challenging an assumption, noticing a small detail or asking a question that nobody else has asked.
SD Worx welcomes qualified candidates regardless of origin, nationality, gender, skin colour, ethnic or social background, religion, age, disability, sexual orientation or stage of life.
What should you ask during the interview?
A careers page can give you a general picture, but the best way to understand a workplace is to learn about the specific team.
Here are some questions worth asking:
- What is a normal week like in this team?
- What would my first few months look like?
- How does the manager give feedback?
- What is the biggest challenge the team is facing?
- How do colleagues work together across locations?
- Why did the last person join or leave this role?
- What opportunities are there to learn?
- How does hybrid working operate in practice?
The answers should help you decide whether the role fits what you are looking for. The recruitment process is not only about whether you are right for us. It is also about whether we are right for you.
So, what is working at SD Worx really like?
It means working in an international business with the familiarity of a local team.
There is flexibility, but also responsibility. There are opportunities to grow, but you need to take an active role in them. And while we do not have every answer individually, we are good at finding answers together.
That is what we mean when we say: We Make It Worx.
