About the role:
The Backend Developer (.NET/C#) – CMDB engineer is accountable for both the technical architecture and operational integrity of the platform governing infrastructure capacity, availability, asset lifecycle, and licensing across private cloud, public cloud, and datacenter environments.
We are primarily looking for a hands-on Backend Developer who is passionate about building integrations, services, and data solutions.
The ideal candidate has strong .NET/C# development skills, excellent SQL knowledge, and experience integrating enterprise systems through APIs.
Experience with ServiceNow CMDB, Asset Management, is considered an advantage.
This role combines technical leadership, data ownership, and operational execution to ensure that all capacity, availability, asset, and licensing data is accurate, complete, and actionable.
A significant part of the role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining backend services, API integrations, and SQL-based data solutions that support CMDB, asset lifecycle management, capacity reporting, and operational decision-making.
It enables Product Owners and Platform Tribes to make informed, risk-aware decisions while ensuring the underlying systems, integrations, and data models are scalable, reliable, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
This role is ideal for an experienced backend engineer who enjoys solving complex data and integration challenges while working at the intersection of software engineering, infrastructure, and platform governance.
Which tasks can you expect?
Technical Ownership & Architecture
Own the end-to-end technical architecture of the Capacity, Availability & Asset Management platform
Define backend architecture, APIs, integration patterns, and data flows
Ensure scalability, reliability, performance, and resilience of all core components
Define and enforce non-functional requirements (availability, security, observability)
Align architectural decisions with enterprise standards and cloud strategy
Design, develop, and maintain backend services using .NET and C#
Develop scalable API-based integration solutions connecting ServiceNow CMDB and enterprise platforms
Create and maintain SQL database structures, queries, views, and data processing logic
Data Model & CMDB Governance

Define and maintain relationships across configuration items (servers, VMs, databases, networks, storage, licences)
Ensure consistency between ServiceNow CMDB and authoritative sources
Implement automation-first data population, reconciliation, and validation controls
Maintain continuous data quality through structured checks on completeness, duplication, and accuracy
Develop automated synchronization and reconciliation processes across multiple systems and data sources
Capacity & Performance Management
Design and support forward-looking capacity modelling and forecasting capabilities
Maintain utilisation data pipelines from monitoring tools, cloud platforms, and infrastructure teams
Provide capacity dashboards, baselines, and trend analysis
Identify and escalate saturation risks early

Architect and maintain lifecycle tracking (commission → operate → patch → support → EOL → decommission)
Ensure accurate asset records and compliance with lifecycle policies
Track licence usage, renewals, and compliance requirements
Identify optimisation opportunities, including unused or underutilised licences
Support audit, compliance, and reporting requirements
Engineering & Platform Quality
Lead backend design and implementation (APIs, services, automation pipelines)
Establish engineering standards, code quality practices, and documentation discipline
Drive modular, maintainable architecture and reduce technical debt
Perform technical reviews and mentor engineers

Develop automation solutions that reduce manual CMDB and asset management activities
Ensure secure, scalable, and reliable integration patterns across the platform landscape
Agile & Operational Enablement
Ensure data and platform capabilities support sprint planning and backlog refinement
