About the role:
The Lead for Capacity, Availability & Asset Management is responsible for the technical architecture, data model ownership, and engineering quality of the platform that governs infrastructure capacity, availability, and asset lifecycle across private cloud, public cloud, and datacenter environments.
This role acts as the technical counterpart to the Product Owner and ensures that the underlying backend systems, CMDB integrations, and automation capabilities are scalable, reliable, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
The Lead owns the technical integrity of the value stream and ensures seamless integration with DevAIOps & IDP Portal, ServiceNow, private/public cloud platforms, network, Databases and other PPAI integrations.
Which tasks can you expect?
Technical Ownership & Architecture
Own the end-to-end technical architecture of the Capacity, Availability & Asset Management platform.
Define and govern the backend architecture, APIs, integration patterns, and data flows.
Ensure scalability, reliability, and performance of all core components.
Define non-functional requirements (availability, security, resilience, observability).
Make architectural decisions aligned with enterprise standards and cloud strategy.
Data Model & CMDB Ownership
Own and evolve the canonical data model for infrastructure assets, capacity metrics, lifecycle states, dependencies, and licensing.
Define relationships between CIs (servers, VMs, DBs, clusters, licences, storage, networks).
Ensure data consistency across ServiceNow CMDB and authoritative sources.
Drive automation-first principles for data population and reconciliation.
Establish validation, governance, and data quality controls
Backend Engineering Leadership
Lead backend design and implementation (APIs, services, automation pipelines).
Ensure clean architecture and modular design.
Establish engineering standards, code quality practices, and documentation standards.
Perform technical reviews and mentor engineers.
Drive technical debt reduction and platform hardening
Integration Management
Define and manage integrations with:
o DevAIOps pipelines
o IDP Portal
o ServiceNow
o Private cloud partners
o Public cloud squads
o Monitoring & observability platforms
o Other PPAI integrations
Define API contracts and integration patterns.
Ensure reliable data exchange and event-driven updates.
Prevent duplication of logic across systems.
Capacity & Availability Enablement
Design systems that support forward-looking capacity modelling.
Enable real-time or near-real-time utilisation visibility.
Support SLA/SLO tracking through robust telemetry integration.
Ensure resilience and failure-domain awareness in data design
Lifecycle Automation & Compliance Enablement
Architect lifecycle tracking (commission → operate → patch → support window → EOL → decommission).
Enable automated detection of stale, duplicate, or non-compliant assets.
Support licensing governance via structured usage tracking.
Design reporting layers that support audit & compliance needs
Collaboration & Stakeholder Alignment
Partner closely with the Product Owner to translate value objectives into technical solutions.
Work with Platform Architects and Enterprise Architecture for alignment.
Collaborate with DevOps, Cloud, Network, and Infrastructure teams.
Present technical roadmaps and architectural decisions to senior stakeholders.
Provide effort estimations and technical risk assessments.
What do you have to offer?
7+ years in backend/platform engineering.
Proven experience as Tech Lead or Senior Architect.
Strong experience with:
o CMDB systems
o Infrastructure platforms API’s (VMware, private cloud, AWS/Azure/GCP)
o API design (REST/GraphQL)
o Event-driven architectures
o Cloud-native architecture
Experience with ITIL-aligned environments is a plus.
Strong data modelling capabilities (relational + service relationship modelling).
Deep understanding of infrastructure components:
o Compute, storage, network, databases, middleware
Experience integrating with DevOps pipelines.
Familiar with observability stacks (metrics, logs, tracing).
Understanding of licensing models for OS, DB, middleware, cloud.
Strong systems thinker.
Able to translate complexity into structured models.
Comfortable making architectural decisions under uncertainty.
Strong communicator between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Drives engineering discipline without blocking agility.
Proactive risk identification and mitigation mindset.
