Job Purpose
As an SRE Engineer, you will contribute to improving system reliability, automation, and observability across cloud and containerized environments. Your role involves supporting incident response, enhancing monitoring, and automating operational tasks to improve availability and performance.
You will collaborate with senior SRE engineers, Cloud Engineers, Security specialists, and DevOps teams to gain hands-on experience in automation, infrastructure reliability, and troubleshooting while developing a strong foundation in site reliability engineering principles.
Key Result Areas
- Reliability & Resilience Engineering – Contribute to system stability, uptime, and fault tolerance improvements.
- Incident & Problem Management – Support incident handling, root cause analysis (RCA), and operational improvements.
- Automation & Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) – Assist in automating tasks and reducing manual efforts.
- Observability & Monitoring – Help improve logging, monitoring, and alerting strategies.
- Performance Optimization & Cost Efficiency – Support analysis of performance bottlenecks and resource utilization.
- Collaboration & Learning – Work with experienced engineers to build expertise in reliability engineering.
Key Accountabilities
1. Reliability & Resilience Engineering
- Contribute to implementing best practices for high availability and system reliability.
- Help define and track Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs).
- Learn about self-healing and automated failover solutions to improve system resilience.
2. Incident & Problem Management
- Support incident response efforts and assist in resolving system failures.
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and postmortem processes.
- Help document incident resolution steps and operational runbooks.
3. Automation & Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC)
- Learn and support Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Pulumi, Ansible) for cloud automation.
- Contribute to automating routine operational tasks and system recovery processes.
- Assist in improving CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
4. Observability & Monitoring
- Collaborate with engineers to enhance system monitoring and observability using Dynatrace, Splunk, Datadog, and Grafana.
- Assist in log management and alerting configurations.
- Help set up dashboards and alerts to proactively detect performance issues.
5. Performance Optimization & Cost Efficiency
- Support efforts to analyze and optimize resource usage.
- Assist in configuring auto-scaling and cloud resource management.
- Help identify opportunities for cost savings and system efficiency improvements.
6. Collaboration & Learning
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to learn reliability engineering principles.
- Participate in training sessions, workshops, and knowledge-sharing activities.
- Stay up to date with emerging SRE practices and automation tools.
Knowledge & Technical Skills
Essential:
- Understanding of SRE principles, including SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud computing basics.
- Exposure to container technologies (Docker, Podman).
- Interest in Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible, Pulumi).
- Basic knowledge of observability and monitoring tools (Dynatrace, Splunk, Datadog, Grafana).
- Understanding of CI/CD processes and DevOps best practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn.
Preferred:
- Some experience with incident response and troubleshooting workflows.
- Familiarity with log aggregation, distributed tracing, and telemetry collection.
- Basic scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Knowledge of performance tuning and cloud cost optimization (FinOps).
- Certifications in Cloud Engineering, SRE, or DevOps (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) are a plus.
