About the role
We are looking for a dedicated and pragmatic Privacy Officer to join our Privacy & Data Protection Office and support our operations across Belgium, France, and Luxembourg. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for the execution of key operational privacy tasks, ensuring day-to-day compliance with applicable data protection laws, primarily the GDPR.
You will work closely with business stakeholders, IT, legal, security, and HR departments to embed data protection practices into business processes. You will report directly to the Group Privacy Manager and contribute to maintaining a private-compliant environment across all covered jurisdictions.
Key responsibilities
- Incident Response: Lead the operational follow-up and documentation of data breaches, including coordination with internal stakeholders and notification to supervisory authorities where required.
- Data Subject Rights (DSR): Manage and respond to data subject rights requests (access, deletion, correction, etc.) in compliance with internal policies and GDPR deadlines.
- Data Processing Agreements: Review, draft, and advise on data processing agreements (DPAs) with customers and suppliers.
- Privacy Assessments: Assist in the execution of Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIAs).
- Training & Awareness: Contribute to internal privacy training and awareness efforts within your regional scope.
- Record Keeping: Maintain and update the Record of Processing Activities (ROPA) for entities under your scope.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Support periodic compliance reporting to the Group Privacy Manager and contribute to audits and internal controls as required.
- Cross-border Collaboration: Act as a privacy contact point for local business teams in Belgium, France, and Luxembourg.
Profile requirements
Education
- Master’s degree in Law (required)
- Postgraduate qualification or Master in Privacy/Data Protection Law is considered a strong plus
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of relevant privacy or data protection experience in a corporate environment
- Proven track record in handling DSRs, breaches, and data processing agreements
Skills & Competencies
- Sound knowledge of the GDPR and national implementations across BE, FR, LU
- Operationally minded with strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple privacy tasks in a fast-paced business environment
- Excellent communication skills: able to explain legal/privacy concepts clearly to non-specialists
Languages
- Fluent in English and Dutch (required)
- Professional proficiency in French (required)
