About the role:
As the MPS Payroll Specialist Spain, you will be a key contributor to the delivery of managed payroll services for Spanish SAP MPS customers.
This role focuses on the execution, validation, coordination, and continuous improvement of Spanish payroll services delivered through SAP, in line with agreed MPS service scopes and customer-specific operating models.
You will support the payroll cycle for Spanish SAP MPS customers, including SAP payroll calculation, payroll validation, Social Security processes, statutory payroll outputs, IRPF-related activities, payments preparation, leaver and finiquito processing, year-end activities, and operational coordination with customer HR, payroll, and service teams.
The role also involves maintaining and improving operational documentation such as SOPs, DWIs, process instructions, payroll procedures, customer-specific manuals, and local working practices.
Responsibilities Produce timely and accurate Spanish payroll for SAP MPS customers in accordance with SD Worx processes, agreed service scope, payroll calendar, country requirements, and contractual responsibilities. Execute and review payroll calculations in SAP, including gross-to-net validation, payroll checks, variance checks, correction follow-up, final payroll preparation, and payroll closure activities. Support the monthly payroll process, including data validation, payroll run execution, output preparation, post-payroll activities, and coordination of approval dependencies with the customer. Manage agreed Social Security activities through Sistema RED and SLD, including employee registrations, terminations, variations, CRA file generation, liquidation processing, discrepancy analysis, resubmissions where needed, confirmation, and closure of liquidations. Support payroll-impacting employee lifecycle processes such as starters, leavers, contractual changes, absences, sickness, maternity/paternity leave, parental/adoption leave, unpaid absences, work-related accidents, holidays, overtime, and other leave types based on customer input and agreed responsibilities. Calculate final payslips and finiquitos based on customer-provided data, ensuring correct payroll treatment while respecting that HR, legal, and indemnity decisions remain with the customer where applicable. Prepare statutory and payroll-related outputs such as payslips, bank lists, payroll payment files, accounting outputs, CRA, SLD reports, Modelo 111, Modelo 216, and other standard Spanish payroll reports included in scope. Support IRPF-related payroll activities, including regularization support and preparation of tax-related payroll outputs, while respecting agreed responsibility splits for review, approval, and filing activities. Process year-end activities and generate year-end statutory payroll outputs, including annual payroll reconciliation and relevant Spanish year-end reports where included in scope. Maintain and improve Standard Operating Procedures, Detailed Work Instructions, payroll guidelines, payroll manuals, customer-specific process documentation, and working instructions for Spanish SAP MPS services. Support the creation and refinement of payroll procedures, transaction references, operating manuals, validation instructions, and documentation needed to ensure scalable and repeatable service delivery. Communicate regularly with customer-designated contacts and internal stakeholders to ensure effective payroll processing, timely resolution of dependencies, and clear ownership of open items. Identify process deviations, unclear ownership areas, access blockers, system limitations, customer data quality issues, and potential payroll risks, escalating them through the appropriate SD Worx governance channels. Support continuous process improvement by identifying optimization opportunities in Spanish payroll processes and contributing to a more stable, documented, and scalable MPS operating model. Participate in testing and validation activities when system updates, configuration changes, new wage types, payroll corrections, or service changes require payroll expertise. Work closely with SAP AMS or technical teams where payroll configuration, SAP system behavior, wage types, payroll schemas, or application issues require further analysis. Protect the agreed MPS service scope by identifying out-of-scope requests and routing new configuration, new concepts, new wage types, or additional activities through the appropriate change request process. Contribute to operational resilience and backup coverage across the Spain MPS portfolio, supporting continuity, knowledge sharing, and stable service delivery across multiple Spanish SAP MPS customers. Qualifications and Experience interfaces, payroll accounting outputs, bank files, and statutory reporting files. Experience supporting payroll transitions from previous providers into SAP-based payroll operating models. Experience with testing phases, parallel payroll processing, UAT, SIT, payroll validation, and post-go-live stabilization. Experience in multi-entity Spanish payroll environments. What do you have to offer?
3 to 5 years of experience in SAP Spanish payroll delivery, preferably within a payroll outsourcing, managed payroll services, or enterprise business outsourcing environment.
Strong knowledge of Spanish payroll processes, including payroll calculation, payroll validation, post-payroll, Social Security, tax reporting support, payment outputs, absences, leavers, finiquitos, and year-end activities.
Practical experience with SAP payroll, preferably SAP HCM Payroll Spain, including payroll calculations, payroll schemas, wage types, PA/PY/OM-related processes, payroll validation, and issue resolution.
Experience with Spanish statutory payroll processes and tools, including Sistema RED, SLD, CRA, AFI, Certific@2, Contrat@, FDI, SILTRA-related processes, IRPF, Modelo 111, Modelo 216, Modelo 190, and other Spanish payroll outputs.
Experience working with customer payroll calendars, strict payroll deadlines, monthly payroll closure, payroll approvals, and post-payroll activities.
Experience working with customer responsibility splits, including customer-owned data gathering, master data entry, payroll approval, payment execution, tax filing, and HR/legal decisions.
Good understanding of Service Level Agreements, payroll controls, compliance controls, operational quality, and customer service expectations in a managed payroll environment.
Experience maintaining SOPs, DWIs, payroll instructions, process documentation, and local payroll operating procedures.
Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with customer contacts, internal payroll teams, SAP AMS colleagues, and service management stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced payroll environment while maintaining high accuracy and meeting customer needs efficiently.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, ownership mindset, and ability to work under payroll calendar pressure.
Fluent Spanish and strong professional English, both written and spoken.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in an SAP MPS, BPO, payroll outsourcing, or post-go-live payroll support environment.
Experience with SAP SuccessFactors, Employee Central Payroll, Payroll Control Center, SAP Payroll, Workforce Management, or payroll integration tooling.
Experience with inbound and outbound payroll
