Job Description

 

Within Products, we are frequently executing smaller and bigger programs that go across our tribes.  This Feature Lead will play an active role in organising and coordinating these. We invariably expect a certain level of maturity and experience within larger project and program context. Products is currently around 1000 people, around 120 teams and growing.

 

A Feature Lead is responsible for getting commitments for timely delivering features/functionalities to be built across various Tribes, in close cooperation with the Product Managers/Owners of those backlogs.

This feature lead is positioned in the processes of Organisational Readiness. He/she also goes actually outside the Products organisation “driving overall business success by ensuring we are all prepared and ready”. It is to make sure that after operational go live of our products, our organisation is set to use it in full from sales to support and that customers and/or end users can use the products. This includes a lot of stakeholder management, strong communication and get it to the finish while minimizing issues.

 

Important to note is that we work in an agile Way of Working. Slicing and dicing of requirements in an agile setting is part of the job. Also a good understanding of the Agile mindset and different agile frameworks and how to operate as a cross-tribe feature lead is important.

 

He/she is to play an important role in cross-tribe communication and alignments. This consists of developing and maintaining strong working relationships with all stakeholders (upward as well as downward in the hierarchy) and ensuring that the appropriate ceremonies, communication and alignments occur on time.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Trigger the management on the creation of backlogs that needs realisation before being organisationally ready
    • Coordinate with partners, external suppliers, tribe leads, product managers, product managers/owners and architects to ensure E2E ownership.
    • Plan sequencing over time in cooperation with product owners.
    • Run the appropriate ceremonies and meetings
    • Trigger operational readiness, check validity of features/proposed solutions
    • Trigger improvements based on feedback Operational Readiness involved squads

 

  • Monitor and guide implementation
    • Facilitate the identification of spikes* as early as possible and determine if any investigations are required to create more options, or to validate assumptions before committing to a solution.

                                      *  A spike is a user story / epic that cannot be estimated until an investigation is done into how much time the user story / epic would cost.

                                        This is especially relevant for Feature Leads since a similar action might be required for many squads

 

  • Follow-up
    • Follow up on Assets and Capabilities stories with relevant business owners, product owners and squads.
    • Participate in sprint review sessions and sign off features and user stories if relevant.

 

  • Bring transparency
    • Create communication plan and make sure all stakeholders receive the relevant information on a regular basis.

 

  • Governance and monitoring on Dependency management

 

 

Educational / Skill / Experience Requirements

 

  • A diploma in higher education
  • Experience with program and/or project work. Project Management behaviour with an operational background and being able to connect and challenge the dots end to end
  • Experience in coaching and training
  • Good connection in the organization to ensure the right items are executed at the right time.
  • An analytical and problem-solving capability – ability to observe and interpret dependencies between backlogs
  • Confident and skilled at identifying and navigating through roadblocks
  • Good understanding of relevant domains/products/journeys
  • Creative and dynamic attitude
  • Service-driven mind-set
  • Strong communication skills including remote steering
  • Extremely proficient in English. Other languages such as Dutch, French and/or German is a plus
  • Experience in process methods; A certificate in a methodology is a plus
  • Experience with SDWorx, network within SDWorx is a plus
