We are looking for a new colleague to strengthen the product development teams. You will work in international and cross-functional teams across Europe and actively contribute to achieving the SD goal of becoming number 1 payroll provider in Europe by 2023!

Therefore, we are looking for motivated employees who would like to contribute their skills as Engineer (m/f) with developer preference to provide future-proof products for our customers in an agile way of working.

In our department, we develop payroll software for the Belgian market. The Integrators squad is responsible for data exchange and to connect our payroll application with other internal and external applications by means of API interfaces or file exchange with a focus on performance, scalability and traceability. Currently the Integrators squad has 1 product owner and 2 senior software engineers, and we’re looking to onboard an additional engineer.

Key Accountabilities

Overview of the main tasks:

  • Functional and technical understanding and analysis of user stories, if necessary, in close collaboration with different stakeholders so that business requirements are clearly understood.
  • Development of these user stories as software in team-oriented collaboration in an agile way of working, with focus on open communication, lots of feedback and active participation in scrum events. Because we’re working with 6 teams on the same program, you’ll also be in touch with other teams and a solution architect.
  • Design and development of software modules and business process logic.
  • Coordination of tasks within the team according to requests of our stakeholders and agreed prioritization schema.
  • End-2-end responsibility for assigned software functionalities.
  • 3rd-Level-support, Troubleshooting and error correction.

    Expectations, Experience & Knowledge

  • Good understanding of relevant areas/products/user stories regarding the software you’re responsible for.
  • English, confident in speaking and writing
  • Successfully completed studies in the field of informatics, mathematics or similar degree, or completed training as an IT specialist in the field of application development.
  • 1-2 years of experience in development
  • Having knowledge of
    • C#  Candidates having deep experience with another server-side** language (i.e., java) can apply as well if you can show eagerness to learn the Microsoft developer stack.
    • SQL database queries
    • Entity Framework, unit testing

**: the focus for this vacancy will be back-end development, however a candidate should be open to learn front-end web development (javascript) skills if needed in the future.

Additional skills nice to have:

  • Good knowledge of:
    • Message bus architectures (i.e., NServiceBus)
    • DevOps (release pipelines, continous integration, continuous delivery)
    • MS SQL
    • IBM DB2 database
    • domain driven design & design patterns (ORM, dependency injection)
    • Automated integration testing
    • Web Api
    • Authentication protocols
