Server Systems Engineer

Job Description

This position is responsible for planning and execution of server technology projects and support at SD Worx.  As part of the server operations squad, this position will work closely with peers and internal customers to ensure that service expectations are met.


Key Accountabilities
1.Participate in technology projects related to Server technologies.
2.Technical resource for Server Operations related Problems.
3.Position may specialise in a specific technology area such as Lifecycle Management, Risk Management, Security Management or Data Protection and Recovery.
4.SD Worx point of contact for server related questions and company communications.
5.Identify, diagnose, and resolve complex server related hardware and software problems using common tools and methodology.
6.Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for implemented solutions.
7.Promote and Maintain Global network strategy and standards.
8.Work with service providers and vendors to ensure highest level of service.
9.Complete customer requests according to agreed Service Level Agreements.
10.Follow formal Change Management Process for all changes.

Competencies

1.Highly organised and disciplined with appropriate Server technology support experience.
2.Good technical knowledge of Microsoft Server OS and associated software components.
3.In depth technical knowledge of one or more of the following:  Windows Server, Active Directory, VMWare, SCCM, Server Monitoring, Backups, Azure.
4.Self-motivating and competent in problem solving within a Server support environment.
5.Ability to work effectively within a virtual team environment.

Education & Experience

1.Education to Diploma standard or equivalent relevant work experience.
2.Minimum of 5 years’ experiences in a related technical support role.
3.Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
4.Microsoft Certification a distinct advantage.
5.Project Management Experience a distinct advantage.
6.Supervisory Experience an advantage.
