Junior Company Lawyer

The Corporate Legal department of WorxInvest is seeking a full-time in-house Company Lawyer. WorxInvest is a diversified investment company and the parent company of SD Worx. WorxInvest provides businesses the necessary funding and expertise for their growth, further professionalization and succession planning, aiming for long-term value creation with a positive contribution to society. 
You will be part of a team that supports the activities of WorxInvest, with a focus on  corporate law, real estate, M&A, contract law and IT/IP law.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Give sound yet clear, cost-effective and practical legal advice to support WorxInvest, management and operations and to ensure their compliance with legal requirements.
  • Provide proactive legal knowledge and assistance on all aspects of the WorxInvest business.
  • Prepare, review, and draft a wide range of corporate documentation.
  • Prepare, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements (e.g. financing agreements, loan agreements, shareholders agreements, intragroup agreements, various commercial contracts, while ensuring an appropriate balance between risk and reward for WorxInvest.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable legislation through monitoring, interpreting and advising on current and new relevant legislation and case law.
  • Actively contribute to the digitalization of the legal department.
  • Create legal templates and best practices, based on corporate guidelines.
  • Support selection of and manage cooperation with local advisors/experts.

 

PROFILE

 

  • A university degree in law obtained in Belgium.
  • Have a solid and relevant post qualification legal experience in a well-reputed law firm and/or as an in-house legal counsel (preferably within an international company).
  • Have varied training and post qualification experience in one or more of the following areas: corporate law.
  • Have excellent knowledge (verbal and written) of English. Good knowledge of other languages (such as Dutch, French, Italian, Spanish or Polish) is considered to be an asset.
  • Possess strong analytical, negotiation and contract drafting skills.
  • Be business oriented, practical, pragmatic and combine a risk aware working style with a no nonsense and hardworking attitude.
  • Be a team player, but must be able to work autonomously.
  • Able to develop strong working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Able to deal with complex issues and to decide matters promptly on the basis of common legal sense.
  • Able to determine priorities and give focus to essential matters and push back less important/less urgent matters.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and oral).
  • Stress-resistant and able to work under pressure.
